NZ 2009 – Update

We are all connected up to the internet now so there will be updates made on the NZ 2009 page of the website. But just to let you know we had a really good trip down the coast picking up the kids and saying goodbye to the parents as we went. Our flight was great, the landing ahead of time so were off to bed by 1am.

This morning saw us off to the QE11 pool for a swim…    keep reading updates on the NZ 2009 page.

JX Clinics – Hervey Bay & Nambour

Information has been sent to each club, via the WB email address, regarding the upcoming JX clinics to be held in Hervey Bay (9-11am) and Nambour (2-4pm) on Sunday 4th October. If you received a shirt in the JX program recently you are eligible to enrol in the program. Be quick places are limited to 40 swimmers at each clinic. Contact admin1@swimming.org.au to register.

Mercantile Relay Fun Fay

Tessa Wallace and the Caloundra Aquatic Lifestyle Centre are running a “Mercantile Relay” fun day on Sunday 4 October 2009 to raise money to help continue Dr June Canavan’s “Klocking up the K’s” for The School of St Jude in Tanzania.

Re: SQ Short Course Championships 29th & 30th August 2009

Please note that the starting time for Session 2 on Saturday and Session 4 on Sunday has been amended to not before 1pm.
Would you please inform your Head Coach and any swimmers from your club who are competing in Session 2 and 4 of the change.

 

Also, please note below –

Important:

Gateway will be closed (down to 1 lane only in either direction) due to Bridge to Brisbane – from 3am on Sunday morning 30th August.

Will not open up until 9.30/10am.

Please ensure relevant competitors are aware of this.

Celebration of Dr June’s Life

Details of the Celebration of Dr June’s Life are as follows:

Join in the celebration of Dr June’s life at a service to be held at The Sports Stadium of The University of The Sunshine Coast, Qld at 11.30am on Monday, August 31, 2009.

In recognition of June’s love of the colours yellow and blue guests are invited to wear something which features these colours.

In lieu of flowers, donations are welcomed to June’s “Klocking Up The K’s” project in support of the school of St Jude in Tanzania. Envelopes available at the service. A light lunch will be served following the service.

Dr June was an amazing lady who supported so many swimmers in our region. She saw the best in everybody and helped so many. Dr June, as everyone calls you, we will miss you more than you ever thought possible. Thank you for your never ending contribution to so many in so many ways. You are an inspiration to us all.

Wide Bay Short Course This Sunday

Final information has been posted on the Short Course page of this site. What an exciting weekend it is going to be. WB has been notified that some swimmers are going to have a crack at a QLD state record. We will be operating the new timing system from Hervey Bay. They haven’t even used it yet!.  Mt Creek have the food under control. Swimmeroo has their gear packed ready to set up and the New Zealand team is pumped ready to swim. You’ll notice them on Sunday! They start with their swim-a-thon on Saturday at 1pm. If you haven’t sposnored a swimmer yet give me a call……      Catch you all on Sunday.
