NZ 2009 – Wide Bay Development Squad

Day One – Bundaberg to Christchurch.

The bus left Bundaberg with 4 very excited swimmers on the bus. Thanks Mr Towner for taking the day off to drive us down the coast. After stops at Maryborough, Gympie, Cooroy, Forest Glen and Aussie World we travelled to Brisbane stopping for lunch at the Boondall wetlands for lunch. Thanks Jessica for organising lunch and afternoon tea.

Our time at the airport was a little extended and suprisingly there were no long waits in queues or even very many people there. Before we new it we were touching down in nice cool Christchurch. 3 degrees at 11.45 pm!  It was like going from the oven to the fridge!  Hire vehicles and transfers happened and off we went in search of our accommodation.  Thank goodness the online grocery order was already delivered and unpacked ready for us to use. How lucky are we!

Day 2:  Frisy 25th September

Breakky was at 8am and we were ready for the pool by 8.30am. What a complex. There is so much to see there before you even get to the competition pool. A real hive of activity for heaps of different sports. After training ( and the adults had their takeaway coffees) we headed back to the accommodation for morning tea and a well earned rest! Yesterday was a long day for most!

Another pool session at 4pm really helped to get our body clocks into action ready for competition the day after tomorrow. We all want to try the longest waterslide before we leave. Dinner and a team meeting follwed by a movie has helped us allfeel ready for supper and bed and it’s only 7.14pm……..
