We’re in control!

The internet is up and running so the updates will come often now. After our fabulous airport encounter and a fantastic flight to Wellington ( no windy Wellington) Jaime Oliver Jan was waiting for us with all the shopping unpacked and the rooms nice and warm.

Once competition starts tomorrow we will be sending Julie (Our very enthusiastic publicity officer)the photos and info and she will be updating the website.

Wow what a few days we have had.

Day 2:

NZ was what we wanted to see!  First to the pool for a swim session then back to the units for a quick bite and to drop off the wet togs. Today was JAN’S BIRTHDAY as we found out via the ever trusty drivers license she needed to hand over. Paul’s younger eyes scanned the birthdate, the brain kicked in and before Jan could turn around everyone knew it was her birthday!

NZ is a really pretty country as we found out on our short drive (so Paul thought!). On the way to Palmerston North for lunch we saw a wind farm, a speck of snow in the distance, a lamb being born, a chocolate factory (if we can’t find Jan or Teenna we’ll know where they are) and Massey University.

After lunch at Subway we headed back across through the Manawatu George, down further to Masteron and onto a little town with a big………

Then another swim session, this time at the Johnsonville Pool

Team meetings are great fun and a really good way to plan for the next day. Last night the kids suggested what to do in our break between sessions today.  Captain America was on the menu!

Today’s team meeting was a bit more exciting as we planned our first day of competition tomorrow. Ben was awesome in his descriptive analogy of race tactics. It was a real Ben moment showing just what a focused athlete he is. Paul then shared his great strategy. A PB earns a giant snake. He gave the swimmers a wiff of that incentive when he passed a bag of snakes right under their noses. (hehehehehe).

On a serious side I can say they are all pumped to race. Tomorrow we see Ben, Teena, Ammon, Phillip and Ella racing. It’s really exciting. Even Sky TV will be there to film the finals each night!

Here are some mor pics

See the snow!

Fush n Chups?

Who’s wearing the hat that was on the window wiper?

Team work with a cheesy (grated) grin!

Goodnight from Jamie Oliver Jan and Marvellous Michele (as Julie would have it!  Night Jules….)
